Oh owned it's been almost a month since I last blogged and I hadn't even realise that it's been that long.
Highlight of highlights - Batam trip, been there done that. Truly enjoyable weekend with absolutely nothing on our minds except relaxing and having fun dissing people. Resort life is so owning cause all we did was just sit around in our rooms watching tv, bake our asses on the beach and swimming pool, play basketball, eat loads of junk food and cup noodles and talk cock. Best of all was that we had an Indo Papa aka Gio who speaks the language and ensures our safety wherever we go. The environment was good, the activites were good, the food (esp. the breakfast buffet) definitely was good and the company was great as well. Check out the photos over at my Friendster account.
After the long Good Friday weekend, it was back to depressing GNS trying to clear the unclearable audit review points. So so so felt like quitting and not working on my first day back, totally no mood to work and kept dozing off. Luckily I still got to go outside audit and quickly found an opportunity to pack my bags and left for the client's place. After 2 or 3 days of re-adapting, things pretty much went back to normal and I'm still the office rat that I was and always am.
I started swimming again recently after buying a new pair of goggles and damn, it's got to rank as one of my top 5 purchases of all time. I think this pair of TYR goggles cost me $32.90 and it's worth every cent of it. I went swimming on Monday and cause I reach there 830pm there's really only 30mins for me to swim. So I stripped down immediately and went ahead to swim laps until the lifeguard whistle me up. Can you believe it, 30mins of nonstop swimming in the water and not even a single drop of water sneaked into the goggles, and neither did it fog up. This is quite owning, but perhaps it could also be a normal occurence and I'm so amazed by this cause I've always been using cheapskate goggles. Think I only managed to swim 8 laps, gonna try to reach there earlier next time and push to 10 or 12.
A while back I was still wondering if I should study just ACCA or go to Uni but I decided to just apply for the spot first. After 2 months of working experience, I could say that I'm grateful for my decision to apply for the Uni spot cause it seems to be terribly narrow-minded for me to say I'm OK with doing accounts/audit for the rest of my life. If I had just taken ACCA, there's only gonna be these few routes to take and the pay is not very high as compared to the long working hours.
A degree would open up so many more doors and opportunities for me and boy ain't I motivated to push my ass through them now. There was the financial issue earlier for me to contend with, but I think for now, it's pretty minimalised so I can go ahead with my tertiary education. Hopefully. Anyway NTU accepted me but I'm still gonna go for the SMU interview tomorrow. I most probably would just take up NTU but since I paid my $15 application fee to SMU at least I deserve a tour of the school? Read from forums that the SMU interview is quite gruelling and their selection criteria is pretty stringent and tough, so it could probably be a useful and eye-opening experience.
Really looking forward to Uni now, perhaps I should say not Uni itself but my life with the Uni experience after it. Of course there's still the small matter of 2 YEARS OF NATIONAL SERVICE OMGWTFBBQ. That's looking at things from a really macro level. On a micro level I gotta crawl my ass to bed right now cause of the 9.45am interview and then it's back to AMK Techpark II to finish up my outside audit. Client's been hinting me directly and indirectly that I gotta tie up all the loose ends by tomorrow and not return again on Friday so I might, might have to work OT.
Update again this weekend then.
(thats a line from a Britney hit on top btw, yes I listen to Britney)
