Haven't been good.

As the title suggests, I haven't been feeling too good recently, at times even bordering on being stressed out. The bulk of my stress stems from my very dysfunctional family which unfortunately took a turn for the worse this supposedly festive CNY season. I'm sure people who know me know that I'm a very confrontation-averse person. I tend to do all that I can to avoid confrontations whereby everyone ends up with eggs on their faces, even if it means that I have to undertake some additional sai gang or have to put up with nonsense that I don't deserve.

This is exactly what put me in such a spot. I really don't understand why do people have to behave in such a manner. Exactly what do they get out of it? What does my grandma stand to gain by antagonizing my mom, by preventing me from contacting her? Yes, my mom is far from perfect, her character flaws and the bad decisions she makes sometimes make people really wonder just wtf she is thinking. But she is my mom afterall, no matter what she did, is doing or will do, nothing can change the fact that she gave birth to me. There is no way such a blood-tie can be removed.

On the other hand, my grandma is probably the most important person in my life. She's the one who brought me up and never left me on my own even when sometimes the whole world had seemingly left me for dead. Why do I even have to make this choice? I'm not even asking for everyone to get along all fine and dandy, I just want all the needless conflicts and confrontations to be avoided simply by not stepping on each other's toes. People always say you have to resolve the root of the problem, but what if the root is buried under years and years of history past? How can you dig it up and resolve it? I really hate to be torn in between such petty and needless conflicts, but it's really hard when there are so many parties involved and the fact that there's still a mofo behind the scenes stoking the flames. But that's another story for another day.

Sigh. I remembered having this conversation with one of my coursemates last week before the CNY holidays. He's 22 this year and is a NS regular, citing financial difficulties as the reason he signed on. He said he is totally not looking forward to CNY. Puzzling isn't it, how can someone not look forward to getting ang paos and an extended holiday? Then he told me all the ang paos his parents are gonna give are gonna come from his money, plus gotta buy alot of stuff and the price of everything is on the rise so he hope that CNY never comes. And then here I was complaining about my great shrink of ang pao collection.

Kinda put things in perspective doesn't it? He's only 1 year older than me and he has to give up 10 years of his life to bond to the nation just to get a stable job to support his family. While I'm always kpkb and getting stressed out by trying to support myself alone.

And then I have another coursemate who's father is the boss of a car rental shop. Every week he would book in driving different cars and damn, his white Subaru really owns. Suddenly I feel this urge to own a car, to have my own house and endless money to spend. Part of the reason my family is in a mess is also due to financial reasons. If we had tons and tons of money, would we have gotten along easier? There're so many things I want to accomplish, so many things I wanna own, so many places I wanna go and so many things I to see. I want the world at my feet and I know I will never be satisfied until I accomplish this, and yet I have this deep insecurity within me that I am not capable enough to achieve all the goals I set for myself. I have this deep-lying fear that my inadequacies will be exposed somehow and I'm just living a pipe-dream.

Am I really good enough? Everything that has happened to me and around me seems to suggest otherwise. I have too many failings, too many flaws and too many inadequacies that knocks me down time and time again. I have a big ego I know and I don't really want to admit that I'm at fault most of the time, because I honestly don't think I am. But I've been thinking lately, perhaps I'm really at fault. Perhaps my sense of self-righteousness is but a misguided and warped perception of reality. From my failed relationship to dysfunctional family ties, maybe the fault lies not with anyone else but me. How else do you explain why things can work out for others but not me, or are their problems just pushed under the carpet like everyone else.

Just exactly what do I deserve to get? Where do I go from here?

CNY long weekend!

I haven't updated this blog since my last post, when I was still in the midst of my nerve-wrecking pulsating final examinations period. An overall assessment of the papers, I actually feel that the last AFA paper is the hardest. The theory portion is ... pretty unexpected and my answers were definitely not my most confident ones. Anyhow, with the ending of that paper my poly life has also came to an end. I used to hear them stories from Steven about how chiong and fun his poly life is, but now that mine's over I don't really feel that mine was even half as chiong and fun.

Still, David and I agreed on this, Poly > Secondary School ALL THE WAY. A better word to describe my poly life would be... relaxing. Everything was relaxing and cool and after 3 years of over-achieving I don't think my life will ever encounter a smoother period again. Primary school time was crazily easy but that's when I was still a kid. Secondary school is stressful with puberty and all and seems like a popularity contest sometimes. Poly is just do your thing and pretty much mind your own business and no one will bother about you. And did I mention the babes too? Lol. Of course not forgetting the babe that I "amazingly snagged" in year 2 and in someone's words, "cannot figure out how I actually manage to do it". C'mon she's not THAT out of my league...I think...I hope.

Haven't been posting photos for a while, so here's the "babe" in CoffeeBean after the AFA paper:

She thinks that she looks cute with this expression. HAHA OMG>>

The theme for the following 2 photos: Act Candid.

Started working at GNS last Friday thanks to Brenda's recommendation. I sure owe her a $20 orh luah for landing me the job. Work was alright too, not very difficult but hire purchase and cash flow statement can be quite troublesome. Only did collation and heck I spent an entire day on a case on Monday trying to fix the hire purchase and cash flow. Got me really fucked up and thankfully I managed to figure out just what the accountant was doing. Manager said I'm gonna start auditing next Monday after the 3 interns from SP come in. I guess it's their turn to do collation next.

And then there's CNY. I think I screwed my diet up big time. Anyway, I didn't mention here but I gave up on cutting cause I realised I still could lift heavy for all except for bench press. Back to bulking so my diet is not THAT strict but still, the CNY goodies are killing me. The Taiwan Muahchee and Love Letters are really my vices, not to mention the lack of HIIT and cardio this 2 weeks due to Sam the Hoe's absence from our weekly training. Been taking it easy with VC doing 2.4km and light swimming. Yes I gained weight, yes it's not (all) muscle, yes I'm pretty screwed. Meeting David and VC to lift somemore tomorrow, hoping for redemption from all the Muahchee.

And I finally understand the goodness of brown rice. Not only is it nutritious, it's simply the best food for a healthy diet because there is no fking way you can binge on your meals if you are taking it. It's so icky that you wouldn't want another bowl and it fills you up fast so you won't need the extra calories. I gotta mix it with white rice I'm a wuss.

Give brown rice a try, you won't regret it. Not.

CNY

It's the CNY period once again and it's quite depressing to be reminded of how much my red packet collection has shrunk over the years. I remembered I used to really have quite alot when I was a kid but now...damn. Even my meagre NS allowance owns my red packets for real. Is it an effect of a shrinking family tree? Breaking down of family ties? Then again, the words 'family ties' don't really fit in well with me and my life huh.

I was watching History Channel one night and they showed this 2-hour documentary called Ancient Ink. Totally kicked ass I tell you, the host went on a round-the-world journey searching for everything related to tattoos and the various tattooing techinques. The one that got me squealing was this old japanese guy who literally just used a wooden stick and a hammer to knock it into the skin to tattoo. It's OWWWWW so painful I can almost feel it when the host tried but I got to say it's definitely worth it cause the colouring effect came out like totally perfect, nothing I've ever seen before. The colours were so damn bright and balanced and when he said the modern machine can't do anything like this I'm ready to believe it. Am I ready to try it? NO FUCKING WAY haha. Besides colour wouldn't look good on my skin either so screw that.

Finally went back to touch up on my flamehead 3 days ago. Joseph - the artist, was working on a chest piece on another customer when I just arrived and guess what, the customer fainted on him. First time I've seen someone faint honestly. He just flat out fell forward and blacked out when Joseph was outlining near the collarbone area. Dragged on a while and then was my turn to get poked and I'm so damn glad it was over in 10 minutes. Seriously, whoever tells you that tattooing is not painful really ought to go through a lie detector or some shit. Stop lying, stop acting tough, it hurts like fuck so just admit it.

I guess I'm really a very cyclical person, even the tattooing process goes in a cycle for me. For the first hour I'll stay very calm and enjoy the poking pain, by the 2nd hour I'll be cursing and swearing inside my head and wondering how and why the fuck would I wanna put up with this kind of pain. By the 3rd hour I'll usually come a decision that I'll never get tattooed again. Then when I go home and look into the mirror, I'll start thinking of where and what to tattoo next and it'll start all over again. I've already got ideas in my head now, probably will add a few more before the year is out.

Will I eventually end up with full sleeves? Full back? Who dare say? Give me 10 to 20 years to find out.
